Water Softening Plant

PT Banyu Biru Sejati supplies an extensive and comprehensive range of Water Softening Plant.

The presence of hardness salts (calcium and magnesium ions) in the make up water supplies to boilers, cooling and process waters can have a serious impact on their performance. Loss of heat transfer in boilers and poor cooling in re-circulating cooling systems results in an increase in both energy and water consumption, and an increase in operating costs.

The reliable PT Banyu Biru Sejati standard range effectively removes these hardness salts and provides a valuable return on your investment.

Standard range:

Model 132 - Water Softeners up to 5m3/hr
Model 230/250 - Water Softeners up to 15m3/hr
Model 360/LF - Normal-Flow Water Softeners up to 20m3/hr
Model 360/HF - High-Flow Water Softeners up to 50m3/hr

The standard range of units provides service flow rates from 0.65m3/hour to 50 m3/hour, and configuring the units in a duplex or triplex system will provide a further increase in design flow rates.

The water softeners have capacities which vary from 4.3m3 to 420m3 with a total input hardness level of 200ppm expressed as calcium carbonate.

The water softeners use the well-proven "Ion Exchange" process to convert the hard water ions of calcium and magnesium to sodium ions. The resultant water to service is typically less than 4 ppm total hardness.

PT Banyu Biru Sejati's Water Softeners have several different control options for instigating automatic plant regeneration:

    Water meter control - regenerates after a specified volume of water by counting electrical pulses from the meter supplied with the softener
    Time-clock control - regenerates at regular pre-set time intervals
    Microprocessor Control System programmed for water hardness and flow rate

The softener vessels are of a seamless pressure vessel in GRP construction with moulded polyethylene inner and glass fibre reinforced wound outer shell for durability and long life.

The control valves are of the hydraulic double piston multiport type. Valves can be "top mount" or "side mount" entry for increased flow capacity.

Dealkalisation Plant

The presence of high levels of temporary hardness (high alkalinity) in the raw water supply feeding a highly rated package boiler can result in high blowdown rates and an associated very high level of carbon dioxide in the steam. The resultant condensate has an acidic pH and the water is very aggressive to the metals in the condensate system.

Iron fouling of steam traps, poor operation of steam traps and high cost of replacement condensate pipework can result in a significant on cost to the boiler operation. To treat this type of water related problem requires consideration be given to the PT Banyu Biru Sejati Dealkalisation/Degas/Base Exchange plant.

The reliable PT Banyu Biru Sejati standard range of Degas-Base Exchange Dealkalisation Plant effectively reduces the alkalinity and hardness salts from the water giving a water of the following composition:

    Bicarbonate alkalinity - less than 5% average of the input alkalinity
    Total dissolved solids reduction - approximately equal to the temporary hardness
    Total hardness - less than 4 ppm

Combining the standard modular dealkalisation range with the standard softening plant range gives a fully dealkalised and fully softened water.

In certain areas, where the waters contain high levels of sodium bicarbonate, PT Banyu Biru Sejati Water Systems recommends a more specialised "Split Stream Dealkalisation Plant".

Demineralisation Plant

PT Banyu Biru Sejati supplies an extensive and comprehensive range of Demineralisation Plant.

For pure water and ultra-pure water for use as make-up to high-pressure boilers and for use in the pharmaceutical industry, micro-electronics industry and chemical/petrochemical industries, PT Banyu Biru Sejati water systems is available.

Our range of cation and anion exchange units are up to a flow rate 9.7m3/hr and the units employ both normal and counter-flow regeneration. These smaller standard units are:

    skid-mounted
    complete with automatic conductivity instigated regeneration
    central control panel

Control valves are either the well-proven 5-cycle multiport valve or, for larger units, a frontal manifold with individual corrosion-resistant valves.

The larger units are designed and manufactured to suit the client's requirements. The larger units typically can cope with flow rates up to 100m3/hr.

Acid and caustic used for automatic plant regeneration of the anion and cation streams can be from:

    carboys
    semi-bulk acid
    or bulk acid containers

For ultra-pure water, additional mixed bed polishers can be provided - again depending upon the applications.

Reverse Osmosis

PT Banyu Biru Sejati's Reverse Osmosis custom-manufactured plants are used to produce high-quality demineralised water, especially where the client looks to minimise the use of chemicals which are the regenerants associated with the more conventional demineralised ion exchange process (see Demineralisation).

R O Plant is used extensively in the food and beverage industry (especially the brewing industry), pharmaceutical and the electronics industries.

PT Banyu Biru Sejati Water Services uses a computerised programme for studying the water chemistry so as to select the most suitable membrane configuration and in order to provide a plant which gives a low water-rejection rate.

Further help is provided to the client to make use of, often by further treatment, of the reject water.

The standard PT Banyu Biru Sejati range of R O units utilises the most modern membrane technology and consists of a modular design comprising of:

    Skid-mounted epoxy-coated steel base
    Spiral-wound membranes in high-pressure GRP vessels
    Multi-stage high-pressure stainless steel feed pump
    Control panel
    Pre-filter
    Pressure and flow gauges for feed, reject and permeate
    Water quality indicator on conductivity alarm

R O plants are normally provided with additional pre-treatment forms - typically with softening to prevent scaling of the membrane, carbon filtration to remove chlorine and cartridge filters to remove particulate solids.

Nano-filtration and ultra-filtration plants are similar to the standard membrane technologies used in R O but use different types of membranes with different porosity characteristics. This use of different membranes provides a more specialised approach to water pre-treatment.

Membrane systems are finding increasing use in effluent treatment where suspended solids levels have been reduced but where it is then required to further concentrate the dissolved material to aid its recovery, or to recover water, or to concentrate the waste into a more suitable volume.

Filtration Plant

PT Banyu Biru Sejati Water Services Limited supplies an extensive and comprehensive range of Filtration Plant.

Raw water supplies i.e. river waters, dam waters, borehole waters, can be contaminated with high levels of suspended solids - typically:

    iron
    silt
    manganese
    organics
    process foulants

The increasing need to save money on the cost of water and to better use this valuable resource, water re-use and re-cycling on industrial sites is becoming more important.

Filters minimise the build-up of suspended solids in cooling tower systems, under which harmful and troublesome bacteria grow, keeping systems clean and enhancing cooling efficiency.

PT Banyu Biru Sejati Water Services has filtration plant available to solve all of the above suspended solids problems with filter plants having the following filtration media:

    Graded sand/gravel
    Sand/Anthracite
    Activated carbon
    Iron/Manganese removal media.

PT Banyu Biru Sejati range of standard filter vessels are conservatively sized to give flow loadings per square metre of filter bed which are well within design criteria and which therefore give improved and reliable filtration.

The units are available with either:

    Well-proven 5-cycle corrosion-resistant muitiport valve
    Or manifold with individual control valves

The units can be in simplex, duplex or multiple combinations.
Triplex combinations allow two filters to provide backwash water for the third filter, which often eliminates for large storage of clean water for backwash.

The filtration process is controlled from a central control panel complete with warning lights and an engraved mimic on which lamps show the service state of all items. The panel houses circuit breakers, motor starters and level switches and PLC.

PT Banyu Biru Sejati Water Services has extensive experience in the use of Ion exchange in effluent treatment, especially in heavy metal removal and recovery of copper, mercury, lead, nickel, zinc and cadmium.

In the glass industry, mirror manufacturers have used PT Banyu Biru Sejati Water Services' expertise and plant design to recover and to eliminate such metals as copper, palladium and tin from the process rinse waters.
